Another Private Road Becomes a County Burden

In a 3–2 vote (Stephens, Vickery, and Bernard in favor), the commissioners approved yet another private road for county maintenance — Hidden Hills Drive.

This road currently serves just two homes in a subdivision of ten property owners, with no school children and an estimated eight vehicles per day. Despite its minimal use, the application was incomplete, and the board ignored clear concerns from Road and Bridge — all while our County is facing a million-dollar budget shortfall.

Would you vote to approve an incomplete application like this — mid-year, not in the budget and revenue is going continuing to fall?

Meanwhile, Commissioner Lynn Bernard has taken donations from the very people who benefit: Here is a list of his campaign donors.

This is public information. With no local or state reporting there’s no accountability, and this pattern of behavior will continue unchecked — unless we demand better.

It’s hard to see this as anything but payback for political contributions — and that’s not how government is supposed to work.
